Is HFPA’s qualifications registered and accredited?

Yes. All of the HFPA’s qualifications are registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and accredited and endorsed by: DHET - Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) CHE – Higher Education Quality Controls & Training Committee (HEQCTO) and the Council for Higher Education (CHE) CATHSSETA – Culture, Arts, Sports and Hospitality Industry (South Africa) QCTO – Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) REPSSA – Register of Fitness Professionals South Africa (REPSSA) iCREPS - International Confederation of Registers of Exercise Professionals (iCREPS)

Does HFPA offer bursaries and internships?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer bursaries for deserving candidates based on merit. Bursary application close each year on 31 October for the following academic year. We further offer internships on various of our qualifications through UXi Sport International Rugby and Netball Institutes, completing workplace hours at our seven institutes or three academic campuses. Enquire with your consultant on how internships and bursaries work.

Does HFPA offer payment plans?

Yes we do. There are different payment methods that will be discuss with you by our finance manager. Depending on your affordability and your circumstance, we will assist in helping you make the best financial decision to assist you in completing the qualification of your choice. Please note that we still have to comply to all regulations for rendering this service to clients.

Does HFPA offer discounts?

Accepted Answer

No we do not. Some service providers provide discounts and this may compromise their reputations as it undermines the value and credibility of education. Education cannot be discounted. If you receive a discount, you should question why suddenly you are not paying the full amount for the qualification? Read the article about discounting education  Also taking into consideration that we provide CONTACT LEARNING and have facilitators that are available to students on a daily basis, this means you are in the hands of experts that are highly qualified and has worked in industry providing you with the best possible knowledge, skills and experience.

Is HFPA the oldest and most reputable sport and fitness education college in South Africa?

Yes. The HFPA was established in 1979, making it the oldest fitness academy in the country. With all our academic qualifications, accreditations, internship opportunities and industry partnerships, we can confidently say that we have a stellar reputation in industry.

When can I start with my qualification?

Accepted Answer

You can immediately start with our online qualifications. Your consultant will take you through the registration and orientation process. For our full time and part time studies we have two intakes per year. An intake in February and the second intake in July.

Question 7

Does HFPA offer workplace preparation skills and qualifications?

Accepted Answer

Yes we do. We have two specialised courses that you can add to your academic qualification, however in most instances this skills programme is included in our main/full qualifications as a value-add. You will gain additional knowledge on how to prepare for the specific industry that you would like to enter.

Is there student support?

Yes. We have student experience managers on all our full time contact campuses that you can consultant at any given time while on campus. However, we have online tutors for every online qualification that also acts as course coordinator that you can contact at any given time during your studies.

Is HFPA’s qualifications internationally accredited?

Accepted Answer

Yes some of our qualifications are. However, students should not be confused or misled by other institutions using the terms registration, accreditation and endorsements loosely. In South Africa qualifications are registered with SAQA and there is international comparability to various qualifications internationally, however this does not mean that the South African qualifications are internationally recognised in other countries. Our qualification endorsed by REPSSA is accepted throughout Australia, Europe, the UK, the UAE and New Zealand and can be transferable to institutions that holds the same endorsements in these countries.

What is the minimum age for admission to HFPA qualifications?

For our main full qualifications you are required to have a Grade 12 (Matric) in South Africa. However, we provide bridging courses and special admission exams to assess certain fields of study to assist in you bridging the gaps to be admitted to a qualification. We do offer bridging courses for those who do not have a Grade 12 with for instance only an NQF 3 level certification. We will help you with an articulation pathway to get you ready for our academic qualifications in the correct and regulated manner by following the processes and procedures as stipulated by all accreditation bodies.

Will I find a job with my HFPA qualification?

Accepted Answer

Yes you will! With our specialised internship options for some qualifications and the high standard of our academic material, we have formed partnerships with industry specialists and are often contacted with job opportunities and internship positions. You can access these opportunities on our HFPA Graduates Facebook page once you are accepted and check regularly if something has become available. You have to keep in mind though that the HFPA is not a recruitment agency and jobs are never guaranteed, however with you HFPA qualification, workplace readiness skills and internal practical experience you have acquired, you are more marketable than any other student that has just received a qualification, especially at an online institution not offering these services to students.
